"Where's my movie?!?!"

HAPPY NEW YEAR! (If it hasn't already lost its luster and it's not passe to say.)

With all the holiday commotion in the ocean and catching the waves past us, I can finally get back to revamping the film. I've been working on it here and there, but at most, it's been a new "cutting" experience.

As I've mentioned in our last blogger episodes, in order to tell "That Asian Thing" story at a better scale, I had to go back to the cutting board. This entailed going back into the raw footage we have on file and cutting things I may have missed or grabing footage that relates better to the flow of the story. Obviously this is time consuming. However, it did help me re-live in the moment that was happening at that time.

In retrospect, I was there filming and not knowing what I was getting myself into. I was basically adding to a bigger picture that wasn't in focus yet. Now that I have a plan of attack and a stronger story to tell, I was now watching what I filmed and wished I had moved the camera to a different spot, or wished I had followed-up on something, or wished I knew the technical aspect that would be played into post production. Yet, I dare not regret anything and take any sort of challenge head on!

Right now, my target date is to be complete before March. I have a few film festivals that I want to enter in mind.

Also - if you're all about support - please don't hesitate to keep passing info unto others. I greatly appreciate it! One of the key factors to the root of my movie as to why there's a low impact of Asian-Americans in mainstream American culture is lack of support. And yes my friends, this even comes from the Asian-American community itself. I must admit, that even I can't go to every Asian-American community event we have here in Chicago. However, I do bring up events in conversation and email people in my close network of friends to go. We need to keep on pushing!

I just wanted to do my monthly chime and say that we're still alive. Thanks y'all!
